Search Engine Marketing Code of Ethics
The Search Industry remains largely unregulated. There are not official training programs, certification programs, or other qualifications to identify someone as a legitimate SEO professional. There are no formal rules in SEO work. The only formal guidelines are the ones put out by the search engines themselves. Most search engines are primarily committed to presenting the most relevant search results to their users. We take an honest, ethical approach to helping our clients perform well in search engines. Although it takes longer to create a well-written and optimized site, this approach makes a longer lasting impact and ensures better long-term performance. -------------- 1. We will not intentionally violate any specifically published and enforced rules of the search engines. 2. We will not intentionally do harm to a client. We will not use any techniques or procedures that are known to result in a penalty by search engines. Including cloaking, doorway pages, keyword stuffing, invisible text, links farms and the use of excessive formatting.
3. We will not set unreasonable client expectations and shall not extend unreasonable guarantees or performance claims. 4. We will protect the confidentiality of our clients with regard to privileged information, including a client’s search engine performance history, other traffic-related information, and their online marketing strategy.
